Astrea Academy Sheffield opened in September 2018 as a free school and started with pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 7. We have grown over the years and we now have scholars from Nursery to Year 13.
We are the only all-through academy within our family of schools, Astrea Academy Trust, which is a family of primary and secondary academies in Cambridgeshire and South Yorkshire. The trust is committed to making sure that every child gets a brilliant education. Astrea aims to make sure that children learn, thrive and lead successful lives. Being a part of this successful and ambitious trust means that our scholars, and colleagues alike, benefit from a rich partnership of opportunities.
Astrea Academy Sheffield is fully committed to an inclusive, comprehensive curriculum for all. Our curriculum is based on three key principles that underpin everything we do:
- Rich in powerful knowledge
- High expectations for all
- Reading, reading and a little bit more reading
Our work is underpinned by our five core values: scholarship, curiosity, tenacity, responsibility and respect. We are very proud to be rated as “Good” in all categories by Ofsted, following an inspection in December 2022.
We believe in traditional approaches to teaching and we value scholarship. In recognition of this, we refer to our young adults as “scholars” to reflect the commitment that everyone makes to academic learning.
We are always happy to show prospective scholars and their families around. If you are a prospective candidate or parent and would like to see the school in action, please email primaryinfo@astreasheffield.org for primary phase visits or info@astreasheffield.org for secondary phase visits or call us on 0114 4783830. A senior leader will be happy to arrange a tour of the academy and invite you to one of our coffee mornings so you can learn more about our academy.
