Upcoming Word of the Week

This week’s Word of the Week is:

Propaganda: is information, often inaccurate information, which a political organisation publishes or broadcasts in order to influence people.

An example would be: The government used propaganda posters to encourage people to join the army in the second World War.

Remember that scholars can get 3 Astras every time they use this word appropriately in their work this week! Please encourage scholars to use this word both in the academy and at home.

Y10 History Catch Up

Y10 history catch up will run every Thursday 3pm-4pm in Lower 8. This catch up is available for all Y10 history classes and is optional. Every week Y10 form tutors will be told what topic we will be studying that week so scholars can decide if they would like to come.

This is also a good opportunity to ask questions or if scholars have missed a lesson they can catch up with what they have missed.

Any questions please speak to Miss Marsden.

Coffee Morning

We would like to invite all secondary phase parents/carers to our coffee morning on Friday 20th May 9:00-10:30am. This coffee morning will have a specific focus on the academy behaviour policy.

To book your place please use school cloud: https://astreasheffield.schoolcloud.co.uk/

Miss Allen's Book of the Month

Where the World Turns Wild by Nicola Penfold. Juniper lives in a world where just a drawing of ‘trees in the city’ is frowned upon. After a group of renegade eco-activists released a deadly virus into the environment to help the world ReWild, the city built its walls to keep nature and the virus out. This engaging environmental dystopia chronicles a journey of adventure, wonder and discovery. Juniper and her little brother, Bear, face many challenges, from city drones, mercenaries and wild animals to the search for food and water, but they make surprising discoveries too. This is a story that invites questions about the fine line between right and wrong, and the interaction between humans and nature.
