Lunchtime Arrangements

Breakfast Club

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and sets pupils up for the day. At Astrea pupils can buy food from the dining area from 8:15 until 8:30. This gives pupils the opportunity to socialise with peers and as well prepare for the day ahead. hot snacks and drinks are available at break time and a full hot and cold lunchtime service is in operation.

Family Lunch

At Astrea Academy Sheffield, our core values are all about developing the whole child. Part of this development is good communication skills, being kind and supportive to peers and adults. At lunch time we have adopted a family lunch where pupils sit at a set table and eat together which encompasses the respect and responsibility core value.

In the dining area at lunchtime pupils are sent to purchase their meals a table at a time. The table is a set table that pupils sit at for a term. Pupils dine together and do not leave the table until all pupils have finished their lunch. Two pupils (on a rotation basis) from each of the tables clean their respective tables and then can either remain at their set table, go to the library or go outside to the MUGA (weather dependent).

Aspens are the chosen catering service for all our pupils and staff and all food is halal. Aspens run a 3-week menu (COMING SOON).

A cashless till system is used so pupils can pay for their food safely and efficiently. To purchase food and/or drinks, pupils must credit their individual account using the machines in dining room. Pupils have an option of using a pin code or finger print technology to pay for their items. Kitchen staff will not accept cash in return for food or drink at any point in the day (breakfast club, break or lunch). Pupils who are eligible for free school meals will have £2.00 per day added to their account to be used on that day. This £2.00 per day will not carry over.
