A successful Y7 scholar will be able to:
- Use their voices and bodies effectively to communicate with an audience
- Have a strong grasp of stagecraft and use of theatre space effectively to tell a story
- Be able to demonstrate and discuss the techniques and practices used be performers to prepare for a performance
- Be able to begin interpreting scripts and make technical and creative decisions to stage a play
Year 8
Half Terms 1 & 2: Building a character
Half Terms 3 & 4: The Tempest – Shakespeare
Half Terms 5 & 6: Devised Theatre
A successful Y8 scholar
- Will understand the process of building a character and creating moments of drama for performace through collaboration
- Will know about Shakespeare’s use of lambic Pentameter, understand the difference between prose and verse and be able to identify metrical feet
- Will be able to reflect on and analyse the process of devising theatre using a stimulus, including technical and creative choices, rehearsal and performance
Year 9
Half Terms 1 & 2: Mask Theatre – Trestle Theatre
Half Terms 3 & 4: Romeo and Juliet – Shakespeare
Half Terms 5 & 6: Small Group Perfomrance – DNA
A successful Y9 scholar will be able to:
- Understand sub-genres of theatre and be able to comment on various types and styles of mask
- Be able to comment on Shakespeare’s use of Iambic Pentameter for dramatic effect and to perform a passafe of Shakespearean text with no script
- Be able to reflect on and analyse the process of staging scenes from a play and comment accuratley on technical and creative considerations as well as the rehearsal and performance.
